Nadine Dellipaoli charged after two children injured in Westwood
Nadine Dellipaoli faces child endangerment and felonious assault charges in Cincinnati. Court records show the charges follow an investigation into severe injuries found on two young children.
A 3-year-old child was taken to the hospital unresponsive on Aug. 8, according to police. Dellipaoli and John Harrison identified themselves as the primary caregivers. Court records also identify Harrison as a caregiver.
The caregivers could not explain the extensive injuries, affidavits state. Doctors discovered bleeding around the brain, multiple healing fractures, and bruising. The 3-year-old was also diagnosed with malnutrition, according to court filings.
Staff suspected physical abuse. They determined an accident was unlikely to have caused the brain bleed. A 2-year-old brother was also evaluated at the facility. Police said that child had bruises across multiple areas of his body.
Cincinnati police described the findings in Westwood and the hospital response.
“The staff at the hospital determined that these injuries were non-accidental trauma and suspected physical abuse. Given the child’s weight, they gave the call to Cincinnati Children’s and that’s what initiated these charges,” the Cincinnati police said.
Felonious assault cases involving caregivers typically proceed through the municipal court system before grand jury review. Medical staff regularly report suspected abuse directly to law enforcement.
Dellipaoli and Harrison are being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center in Cincinnati.
