Toledo Metroparks to host new Fall Festival at International Cove
Toledo Metroparks will debut a seasonal community gathering Saturday at International Cove. The free public event runs from noon to 4 p.m. on Oct. 3.
Organizers invite magical beings of all ages to Glass City Metropark for the afternoon festivities. A Witches Paddle takes place on the water from 1 to 3 p.m.
Registration online is required for the paddle. Guests can rent a paddleboard or bring their own equipment.
“We have a paddle on the water where we’re encouraging participants to dress up as witches, warlocks or magical misfits,” explained Morgan Sopko, Camp Enrichment Program Coordinator for Metroparks Toledo. “And then we’re going to have some s’mores, treats and canoeing, all free of charge.”
Costumed paddlers must wear a personal flotation device for safety. Metroparks staff will provide life jackets to anyone who needs one.
Children can take part in a pumpkin carving activity during the event. The first 200 kids will receive a pumpkin from the community patch.
Staff members will compost the pumpkin remains on site. Free parking is available directly across the street or down by the Docks.
The weekend also marks the Glass City Riverwalk Project reaching 50% completion in Toledo. Trolley tours will operate throughout the afternoon.
Trolley passengers can learn about the restoration effort, future phases, and seasonal changes. Sopko said the redesigned area provides safe water access while celebrating clean natural spaces.
The venue location was formerly known as International Park before its update to International Cove. Toledo Metroparks manages public parklands, trails, and conservation areas across Lucas County.
Visitors may wear spooky apparel throughout the Toledo park grounds. Festivities conclude at 4 p.m.
