Contractor hospitalized after bucket lift hits electrical wires in Toledo

A private contractor went to the hospital Wednesday night after equipment touched power lines in Toledo. Emergency crews responded to bring the worker down safely from the machine. The incident occurred in the 4300 block of Willys Parkway, according to a battalion chief at the scene.

The contractor was cutting down tree branches around 8:15 p.m. The lift touched electrical wires during the work. Power to the equipment cut out immediately. The worker was stuck in the air.

Toledo Edison shut down the local power supply. This action allowed rescue crews to reach the stranded contractor, authorities said.

Utility companies typically cut electrical power to high-voltage lines during rescue operations near active wires. This step protects emergency responders and victims from accidental shocks.

Officials said the man was not injured. Paramedics took him to a Toledo hospital as a precaution.
