Inventia Healthcare Limited recalls more than 25,000 bottles of medication

Drugmaker Inventia Healthcare Limited, based in India, pulled more than 25,000 bottles of blood pressure tablets from shelves. The federal action follows lab tests showing the pills failed key dissolution standards.

The total combines actions from early June and September. The Food and Drug Administration announced the problem involves chlorthalidone tablets. The issue can alter how fast the human body absorbs the active ingredient. It can also change how well the medicine works.

The recall covers 25-milligram tablets packaged in 100-count and 1,000-count bottles, the FDA said. These products carry an expiration date of April 2027. Inventia Healthcare Limited manufactures the affected items in India.

Federal regulators monitor drug manufacturing standards across global supply chains. Agencies oversee market removals when medications do not meet specific chemical dissolution rules.

Officials say patients taking this medication should talk to their health care provider before stopping the prescription. The guidance applies to all distributed units in India and abroad.
