Joseph Polk and Bailey Jobin charged in Memphis robbery, shooting
Joseph Polk and Bailey Jobin face charges in a Memphis robbery after a man reported he was stripped, shot and punched, police say. Officers arrested the pair in a case filed by the Memphis Police Department, court records show.
The charges stem from a Sept. 23 report to the Memphis Police Department. A man told police he was picked up by a man he knew as “Jay Pointer,” later identified as Polk.
Police say Polk drove the victim to a home near Pope and Omar Robinson streets. A man called “One-legged Jay” arrived at the address, police say.
“One-legged Jay” demanded money over a prior vehicle purchase, according to police. The victim was made to strip naked, police say.
The victim told the man, “You’re going to have to kill me here,” according to police records. Polk then pulled out a handgun and shot the victim through the right thigh, police say.
Two unknown men then punched the victim in the head and knocked out several teeth, MPD records state. Polk and Jobin face charges tied to the robbery.
Jobin is charged with especially aggravated robbery, court records show. Polk faces the same charge, plus several others.
Polk is also charged with employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. He faces a count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Additional charges against Polk include theft of property $2,500-$10,000 (motor vehicle). He is also charged with evading arrest.
A sixth charge against Polk lists driving without a valid license. Bond information had not been posted for either man at the time of publication.
The Memphis Police Department investigates robbery reports across the city. After a report, detectives work to identify suspects and forward findings to prosecutors.
