Kings Island closes 2 rides in Cincinnati after Georgia coaster death

Kings Island halted two attractions in Cincinnati following a deadly roller coaster incident in Georgia. The decision followed safety shutdowns at multiple parks nationwide.

One person died on Monday. Several other people suffered injuries at Six Flags Over Georgia. A man fell from a roller coaster, according to the Cobb County Police Department.

A spokesperson for Six Flags confirmed the Cincinnati action on Monday afternoon. The company temporarily stopped operations on similar attractions across the country.

The halted rides in the park are Orion and Diamondback. Park officials acted “out of an abundance of caution.” There is no word on how long the closures will last.

Amusement parks often suspend matching rides during investigations. Operators review mechanical systems and safety equipment.

Park officials in Cincinnati did not provide an exact reopening date.
