Bowling Green State University hosts townhall on data center impacts
Officials held a public meeting in Bowling Green on the health and environmental effects of technology hubs. The forum addressed local impacts from large computer facilities.
The event took place on Tuesday. Five speakers gave presentations during the session. The gathering was part of the 30 year anniversary for the Institute for the Study of Culture and Society.
“Today we are celebrating ICS 30 year anniversary, and we do that with a townhall [meeting] and a full day of programming about an issue relevant to our communities…” says Valeria Grinberg-Pla, the director for the Institute for the Study of Culture & Society.
The event examined how large facilities alter local resources. The Institute for the Study of Culture and Society creates campus programs that connect academic research with public civic matters.
An $800 million Meta facility is now under construction. Crews are building the project in Middleton Township, north of Bowling Green.
