An Oklahoma couple was killed Sunday night in a collision between their golf cart and a car on a Muskogee County highway.
John Head and Dawn Head, of Porum, were riding in the cart along State Highway 2 after 9:30 p.m. when a southbound vehicle traveling from East 303rd Street South struck the cart from behind. The driver said the cart was traveling with no lights. The impact overturned the cart onto its side off the roadway.
Both Heads were thrown from the cart and died from the impact, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. Occupants of the other vehicle reported no injuries.
Troopers cleared the scene later that evening. The Highway Patrol documents fatal collisions on state highways — the conditions, the roadway factors, the sequence of events — and files those findings for official records.
The crash happened on a rural stretch of State Highway 2, which runs through small Muskogee County communities including Porum.
