In Tulsa, a Neighbourhood Forum Puts District 1 Candidates in Front of Voters
A Tulsa neighbourhood group is putting the District 1 council race in front of voters on Monday. Northside Neighbors has organised a public forum with incumbent District 1 City Councilor Vanessa Hall-Harper and candidate Corinice Wilson, at the 36th Street Event Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Residents can register to attend, hear the plans of both candidates and ask questions directly — the kind of session where a council race stops being a mailer and becomes a conversation, weeks before the Nov. 3 election.
In Tulsa, as in Toledo, district councilors pass local ordinances and approve municipal budgets, so the questions residents bring to a forum like this — streets, safety, services — are the actual job description of the seat being contested.
Northside Neighbors says it organised the meeting for the local community and wants residents to make an informed choice on Election Day. Monday evening is when District 1 voters can size up both names on their ballot in the same room.
