Vantage Data Centers holds open house for Oregon project Sunday

Vantage Data Centers plans an open house in Oregon to discuss its proposed $1 billion project. The meeting gives local neighbors a chance to ask questions and provide feedback. Officials scheduled the gathering near Corduroy and Wynn roads.

The City of Oregon encourages residents to attend the event on Sunday. It runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Clay High School will host the meeting.

Visitors must go to the second floor of the school building. The campus address is 5665 Seaman Road. Company officials will attend to meet the public.

The developer wants Oregon City Council to approve the project by Oct. 26. This target date comes from the company’s economic development agreement.

A spokesperson previously spoke to 13 Action News about the industrial plan.

“We believe the project aligns with the city’s vision for development within the industrial zone and can deliver meaningful value to the citizens of Oregon,” the spokesperson said. “We respect the community’s role in this process and understand the city intends to wait for the outcome of the November ballot measure before making decisions about the project timeline.”

Oregon voters will head to the polls on Nov. 3. That vote could possibly restrict the size of the planned building.

Development agreements often set project terms between a municipality and a private business. Public meetings allow community members to examine plans before local leaders vote. Ballot measures can alter zoning rules or limit building sizes.

Vantage representatives stated they will work with city staff during the election. Company leaders said they will evaluate any implications after voting concludes.
