Kerriah Ohler and Hope Skerrett missing after Louisville facility escape
Kerriah Ohler and Hope Skerrett fled from a Louisville corrections facility Monday evening. Officers are searching for the pair, and warrants are active for their arrest. Canton police reported the two women fled just after 7 p.m.
The facility is located in the 4400 block of Lesh St. NE. Officers arrived on the scene. They learned the women might still be on the roof.
Officers flew a drone over the Louisville building. The drone confirmed the pair had already fled the roof. They ran into a nearby nature preserve.
One woman wore all black clothes. The other wore a gray sweatshirt and black pants. One left behind a white pair of tennis shoes.
A K9 tracked through the nature preserve. The dog found more dark-colored clothing. Both women remain at large.
Canton police said Ohler may have had an inappropriate relationship with a center worker. That worker had been recently terminated. Police added the women planned a pickup near the Walmart on US 62 to head to Florida.
Community correction centers provide custody and treatment programs. Law enforcement agencies enter wanted individuals into state registries. Warrants allow officers anywhere to arrest fleeing suspects.
Both women were entered as missing in the Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS). Canton police continue to investigate the Louisville escape.
